Portable Fire Extinguisher Safety Tips for Clovis?

6/14/2022 (Permalink)

Our Clovis team responds to fire damage emergencies each year, and many start in the kitchen. Here are some tips from the National Fire Protection Association for selecting and using a fire extinguisher:

  • For the home, select a multi-purpose extinguisher (can be used on all types of home fires) that is large enough to put out a small fire but not so heavy as to be difficult to handle
  • Choose a fire extinguisher that carries the label of an independent testing laboratory
  • Read the instructions that come with the fire extinguisher and become familiar with its parts and operation before a fire breaks out. Local fire departments or fire equipment distributors often offer hands-on fire extinguisher trainings.
  • Install fire extinguishers close to an exit and keep your back to a clear exit when you use the device so you can make an easy escape if the fire cannot be controlled. If the room fills with smoke, leave immediately.
  • Know when to go. Fire extinguishers are one element of a fire response plan, but the primary element is safe escape. Every household should have a home fire escape plan and working smoke alarms.

What Are the Primary Mold Removal Tactics Used in Clovis Homes?

6/10/2022 (Permalink)

Experienced remediators lean on several removal options when Clovis homes suffer mold damage.

When mold damage threatens the property, we have a finite timeline to provide suitable remediation solutions before the spores spread further or the hosting materials become too severely deteriorated to preserve. We respond fast to mold damage threats with effective restoration solutions.

Surface Cleaning Options

One of the first attempted remediation methods we use is surface cleaning. With light damages that have yet to become destructive to the hosting elements, varying surface cleaning might be possible to overcome developing mold damage. Biocides and sporicidal products are ideal in these situations, as they also inhibit further mold growth.

Aggressive Cleaning Tactics

Surface cleaning is not always effective, however. In some cases, more aggressive tactics are necessary to eliminate organisms that have moved beyond the surface layer to impact the host deeply. Techniques to address these greater damages include:

  • Sanding
  • Media Blasting
  • Abrasive Wet Cleaning

Controlled Demolition for Harsh Damages

One of the final measures that our professionals consider when restoring a home after mold damage is eliminating compromised structural elements. Prolonged exposures of sensitive materials like drywall can deteriorate these hosting elements to the point that removal is the only suitable solution.

Mold removal can be an intricate process. When active organisms threaten your home or business, SERVPRO of Clovis is an experienced and trusted choice to help. We have several mold remediation tactics to choose from based on a range of variables, allowing us to better protect your property and its contents after damage. Give us a call today at (559)297-3429.

How Do I Clean My Walls After Fire Damage?

6/10/2022 (Permalink)

SERVPRO Uses Various Techniques and Products to Clean Your Clovis Home

After a fire in your Clovis house, the two most significant issues you face are cleaning and deodorization. Cleaning each item and surface within your home presents a unique challenge depending on its composition and the type of fire, and the kind of residue coating each surface. Most homes have different surfaces as wall coverings, such as wallpaper and tile in the bathroom and kitchen. Our trained restoration specialists assess the damage to your walls and design a plan to clean your walls properly.

How Do Technicians Clean Tiles?

  • They take into consideration the type of tile, ceramic, plastic, or painted.
  • Ceramic tiles tend to be easier to clean since they are less porous.
  • Plastic tiles often attract and absorb excessive residue.
  • Technicians carefully scrub painted tiles so they do not ruin their texture.
  • They inspect to see if cracks or porous grout absorbed additional residues.
  • Technicians use a strong acidic cleaner such as a Tile and Grout Cleaner or bleach to attack grout stains.

For assistance cleaning your home after a fire, contact SERVPRO of Clovis at (559)297-3429. We make it "Like it never even happened."

Restoring Desired Moisture Levels in Flood-Damaged Clovis Homes

6/10/2022 (Permalink)

Flooding Can Leave Many Structural Elements in Clovis Properties Saturated and in Need of Moisture Removal.

Flooding can be more common to Clovis homes and businesses than you might think. With many exposed contents and structural elements, many look to the professionals of our SERVPRO team to help. Effective drying of flooded spaces involves restoring desired moisture levels within flood-damaged properties, including specific relative humidity percentages required for individual building materials.

Moisture Detection Devices

Visual inspection is only part of the process for identifying flood damage to Clovis properties. Technicians rely on moisture detection devices to gain perspective on the depth of the damage and how the migration of water extends beyond the surface layer. Likewise, an initial moisture inspection determines affected assemblies and the edge of the water-damaged area.

Determining the Desired Moisture Levels

All drying efforts are designed around the nature of water damage to seek equilibrium. When met with the ideal relative humidity and temperature, materials can reach a point in which they do not intake nor expel moisture. Achieving this balance is critical for the restoration of specific materials and zones, including:

  • Wood flooring
  • Carpets
  • Drywall
  • Environmental humidity

Preventing Mold and Microbial Growth

Flood damage can be even more alarming when you consider the possibilities of mold and microbial growth. The potential contaminants present in natural flooding can act as an amplifier for microbial development in moist environments. Preventing growth involves the application of mold inhibitors and biocide products.

Flood damage can develop rapidly and overwhelm Fresno County homes. Our SERVPRO of Clovis team seeks out the desired moisture content in building materials to efficiently manage flood losses and the damage they can do. Give us a call at (559)297-3429.

Water-Damaged Contents

6/1/2022 (Permalink)

Here at SERVPRO, we know that your home is much more than its physical foundation. Rather, what makes your house your home is its contents- your personal belongings. When your home undergoes water damage, the risk for destruction extends beyond just your property. Your home’s contents, your cherished photographs, furniture, and other personal belongings, can sustain serious water damage as well. Regardless of the type of water damage that your home has endured, SERVPRO has a contents restoration service that will fit your needs. Continue reading to learn about the different ways in which SERVPRO can protect your belongings.

Contents Restoration

Because every restoration is different, we offer a variety of contents restoration services depending on your individual needs. For example, if there is light residue, we will utilize dry cleaningWet cleaning will be used for moderate or heavy residue. Additionally, we often utilize spray and wipe cleaning for any items that cannot withstand wet cleaning and foam cleaning for fabric items. We may also use abrasive cleaning or immersion cleaning, depending on the item affected.

Move-Out and Pack-Out Services

In the event that your home’s contents are in need of substantial cleaning services, it is possible that a move-out of the affected area can be initiated. A move-out can facilitate the remodeling process and protect your belongings from any further damage. Depending on your insurance, move-in day services may vary.

Electronic Cleanup

If your electronic devices have been affected by water damage, it is important that you do not attempt to use them, as the combination of electronics and water can be incredibly dangerous. Electronic devices may include the computer, T.V., or DVD player. Our team will work to clean the exterior of the electronics in order to preserve the insides. Additionally, all impacted electronic devices will be inspected by a professional electronics technician.

Document and Photograph Drying

Physical documents and photographs can be destroyed by water damage, so it is critical that we prevent further damage of any kind. Even if documents can’t be completely restored to their condition before the water damage, our goal is to dry the contents and mitigate the possibility of additional damage. We offer 5 different options for drying services, including air dryingdehumidifierfreezer dryingvacuum freeze drying, and vacuum thermal drying, based on the type of document/photograph and severity of the damage.

Contents Claim Inventory Service (CCIS)

Here at SERVPRO, we offer Contents Claim Inventory Service (CCIS for short), which helps limit some of our customers’ feelings of anxiety during such a stressful event. What does our CCIS do? By developing a detailed and thorough list of your belongings, it helps you keep track of all your belongings and the damage that they’ve endured during your water damage emergency. We construct this list by going room by room, making note of each item and its value prior to the water loss through a process of taking photos and sometimes barcoding. These elements ensure that we compile an accurate report of the belongings in your home.

Our CCIS program has many benefits, but the most important perk of all is its ability to give you peace of mind when you need it the most.

Water in Your Crawl Space?

6/1/2022 (Permalink)

Water in your crawl space can cause damage to your home

Excessive moisture in a crawl space can cause your foundation supports to warp and lose their structural integrity.

Excessive moisture can promote the growth of Mold and Mildew.

Standing water can attract pests and small animals.

What to do when you have water in your crawl space

Have a professional inspect your crawl space for foundation cracks and broken pipes.

Dry out the crawl space by removing the excess water and moisture.

Clean up the crawl space by removing debris and wet insulation.

When to Call A Professional

Water mitigation is not a challenging task, but it is hard, physical labor. You might want to consider the following:

A crawl space that is between 4 feet and 5 feet high is considered tall. Even such a tall crawlspace is very difficult to move around in. Many crawl spaces are lower than this.

Tight Access Point of entry makes it difficult to work in the crawl space. There may be only one small door that allows access to the crawl space, and can sometimes be in an inconvenient area, such as a bedroom closet or kitchen pantry floor.

Warning:  Rodents can often get into the crawl space.  Their droppings can contain bacteria.

SERVPRO of Clovis Technicians Have Safety in Mind After Water Damage in Your Home

11/16/2021 (Permalink)

Sometimes, a Clovis water damage case may prove so severe as to warrant a quarantine or exclusion zone within your home. While we do not make these calls lightly, SERVPRO has to institute such safety precautions for some situations to protect both you and your home while we conduct restorations. While our technicians are typically more than able to explain the full reasoning behind such precautions, it might pay off to know what situations can commonly lead to this decision.

Electrical Hazards

If your home has water damage in a broad area or standing water in a room, this area typically must be cordoned off due to the potential presence of electrical hazards. When outlets and large electronic appliances come into contact with volumes of water, they create a major hazard to anyone not protected by specialized clothing like that worn by SERVPRO technicians.

Mold

If our inspectors find a mold of a dangerous species or spread, they may create a quarantine area to stop its spread and shield residents from potential health effects the mold can cause. We are well-qualified to handle mold situations, so worry not if we do find a problem. We simply incorporate mold remediation into the present cleanup job and keep moving.

Septic Tank Spillage or Other Waste Hazards

When a septic tank has spilled, or some other disaster involving biological waste has occurred, we typically bar access to this area to prevent contamination from occurring. Tainted water sources carry large quantities of bacteria, viruses, and fungi that can create serious health effects even through simple proximity. If you know that your septic tank has ruptured or spilled, be sure to inform our personnel before they arrive so adequate preparations can be made.

Structural Damage

More severe water damage has the potential to cause structural damage to the home. If our trained inspectors find signs of this, they may ask you and your family to vacate the area immediately. Structural collapse can happen suddenly, and without prompting, so it is best to stay away from the at-risk area until we have had enough time to ensure its safety.

SERVPRO of Clovis is trained and equipped to deal with water damage of any variety. Call us at the first sign of trouble at (559)297-3429.

Water Intrusion and When to call SERVPRO.

11/16/2021 (Permalink)

As a leader in the cleaning and restoration industry, we strive to meet or exceed the expectations of every customer, client, and business that is involved with water damaged property. Every property, every project, every customer deserves excellence.

Water intrusion in a home or business is always a traumatic event. Effectively restoring a water-damaged property is such a valuable service to any homeowner or business owner. This type of disruption creates stress and uncertainty for many individuals and can be very costly.

This is when you call us at SERVPRO of Clovis to provide guidance and assistance to ensure the best decisions are made through these difficult times.

Excessive water and moisture in any indoor environment can pose health risks for occupants and if it is not resolved properly. Water intrusion can cause severe damages to both your structure and contents.

Properly mitigating, drying, and restoring a water-damaged structure requires training, expertise, and specialized equipment. With hands-on experience and coaching in the field, we are the best in the industry.

The goal of emergency actions is to protect your structure and contents from further damage, establish a safe environment, extract water, demo unrestorable materials, and create the conditions for drying the structure and contents effectively. This typically involves calculating and positioning air movers and dehumidifiers within the affected area.

Once the equipment is placed, we monitor the drying process and make sure it is working properly. Monitoring services continue until the structure and contents are dry as we evaluate, update monitoring logs, and make adjustments as needed.

Are Your Alarms Ready?

9/9/2021 (Permalink)

Having functional fire alarms in your house is one if the most important things you can do to stay prepared if a fire did happen. It is a small item that often get overlooked but with just a few minutes of your time it could save yours and your families lives.

According to www.cpsc.gov, these are the reasons why smoke alarms are so important and where in the household they should be placed.

Why Are Smoke Alarms Important?

Every year in the United States, about 2,000 people lose their lives in residential fires. During a fire, smoke and deadly gases tend to spread further and faster than heat. This is one reason why most fire victims die from inhalation of smoke and toxic gases, not from burns. A majority of fatal fires happen when families are asleep because occupants are unaware of the fire until there is not adequate time to escape. A smoke alarm stands guard around the clock, and when it first senses smoke, it sounds a shrill alarm. This often allows a family the precious, but limited, time needed to escape. About two-thirds of home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.  Properly installed and maintained smoke alarms are considered to be one of the best and least expensive means of providing an early warning of a potentially deadly fire and could reduce by almost half the risk of dying from a fire in your home.

Where Should Smoke Alarms be Installed?

Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home, outside sleeping areas, and inside bedrooms A smoke alarm should be installed and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions. When installing a smoke alarm, many factors influence where you will place the alarm, including how many are to be installed.  Consider placing alarms along your escape path to assist in egress in limited-visibility conditions. In general, you should place alarms in the center of a ceiling or, if you place them on a wall, they should be near the ceiling.

Avoid Common Fire Hazards

9/9/2021 (Permalink)

Having a fire in your home or business can happen fast and unexpected. There is something little or no warning so knowing how to help avoid it is a very smart idea.

On www.safewise.com, they offer several tips and tricks on how you can help to prevent a house fire.

Test your smoke alarms.

Properly maintain your fire alarms by testing the batteries once a month. If they’re not working, replace them immediately.

Inspect heating sources.

Regardless of what kind of primary heating you have in your home, an annual inspection will reduce your risk of fire.

Keep the stove and oven clear.

Don’t leave anything flammable near the stove or oven. Make sure curtains don’t hang over the stove, and never rest towels or a cookbook on the stove.

Stay in the kitchen.

Don't leave a hot cooking surface unattended. Whether it’s a pot on the stove or an electric griddle, you need to be close by. If you have to leave the room, take the pot off the stove or turn off the griddle first.

Check the dryer.

If you have a gas-powered dryer, have it inspected once a year to make sure all connections are secure. No matter what type of dryer you have, always clean out the lint trap after a load is finished. Regularly check behind and around the dryer for pockets of lint or items of laundry that have fallen under or behind.

Maintain cords.

Regularly check the condition of cords and watch out for frayed wires: repair or replace cords with frayed wires immediately. Electrical cords can produce heat, so don’t trap them under a rug or between furniture and the wall.

Store flammable products properly.

Many household cleaners and cosmetic products like shaving cream and hair spray are flammable. Keep flammable products away from heat, including exposure to sunlight. Designate a cool, dark cupboard for flammable products and make sure all family members know where they go.

Be careful with candles.

Never leave candles unattended and always keep them away from flammable items like blankets and curtains. Place candles in secure, tip-proof holders and extinguish them before leaving or going to sleep.

Use the fireplace responsibly.

To keep errant sparks from escaping, install a durable metal fire screen in front of your fireplace. Don’t leave a fire unattended, and give ashes ample time to cool down before disposing of them. Always place fireplace ash in a dedicated metal container that isn’t used for any other household refuse.

Keep fire extinguishers handy.

Stock key areas of your home with fire extinguishers. At the very least, keep one in the kitchen and others near high-risk areas like a fireplace. Regularly review the instructions and make sure all members of the home know how to properly use the extinguisher.

House Fires Cause More Than Just Flame Damage

6/14/2021 (Permalink)

3 Types of Damage Caused by House Fires

When you think about fire damage, you probably picture damage caused directly by flames; however, not only are flames not the only source of damage, the flames may not even cause the most damage. Smoke from the fire and water from the firefighting effort may cause as much or more damage than the fire itself.

1. Heat and Flames

The intense heat from a fire can melt plastics, wiring, electronics, and other items. The flames can destroy property made from combustible materials, such as wood, cloth, or foam. Additionally, fires may cause chemical reactions that may create caustic substances that can damage property.

2. Smoke

Smoke can penetrate surfaces causing fire damage from stains and smells that may be difficult to remove. Professional fire restoration services in Clovis, CA may be able to assist in removing smoke stains and smells from furniture, walls, carpets, and other items. Smoke can also contaminate items such as food and medications. These items may need to be thrown away due to safety concerns.

3. Water

Unfortunately, the water used to extinguish fires can often cause substantial damage to property. A fire hose sprays water at rates of up to 125 gallons per minute. If you have ever accidentally flooded your bathroom, you probably know that substantial damage can be caused to your property by even relatively small amounts of water. The enormous amount of water sprayed on your property to put out a fire can cause severe property damage.

In addition to soaking into furniture, warping wood, and destroying drywall, water can damage electronics, clothing, flooring, and potentially lead to mold growth. It is important to promptly clean up water damage to avoid unnecessary additional damage.

Fire damage, water, and smoke can combine to severely damage a home during a house fire. Prompt fire restoration services can help mitigate damages and restore your property to preloss condition.

How do Professionals Remove Water from Your Flood Damaged Clovis Home?

6/14/2021 (Permalink)

SERVPRO Storm Damage Remediation Can Help Prevent Any Secondary Damages

Whether it is due to a storm, heavy rains or any other natural disaster, a flood can cause extensive damage to your home. The key to a successful restoration after flood damage is quick water removal and preventing secondary damage.

Thankfully, professional restoration experts can take care of your flood damaged Clovis home. SERVPRO technicians can start the mitigation process as soon as we hear from you. The process of flood damage restoration is a multi-step process that can take time and needs expertise. Here are some of the steps that professionals use to remove water after a flood.

Removal of the standing water
The first step is to get the floodwater out of your home. Various equipment can be used to get this job done depending on the amount of water that needs to be removed. If the water is not quickly removed, it can continue to cause corrosion and damage with each passing hour.

The equipment that is used to pump out the standing water is called an extractor. It is used to remove the excess water from the floors, carpets, and upholstery after flood damage. Extractors can be of varying sizes and capacities. While the technicians can use portable extractors for small amounts of water, larger volumes often require truck mounted versions.

Removal of the residual moisture
Even after the standing water is removed, the residual moisture can continue to inflict damage. It is essential to get rid of this residual moisture by drying the contents of the flood-damaged home with proper equipment. The process of eliminating the excess moisture begins with the assessment of the amount of residual moisture remaining. SERVPRO technicians use various moisture testing equipment such as moisture meters and thermohygrometers to ascertain the level of the residual water.

The next step is to eliminate this excess moisture with the help of equipment such as dehumidifiers and air movers. The goal is to create a condition that allows rapid and efficient drying. The technicians establish a drying goal and work toward achieving it as soon as possible.

Call SERVPRO of Clovis today at 559-297-3429 and schedule an appointment if you find yourself dealing with a flooded home on Clovis and we will be there to help throughout the whole mitigation process.

5 Ways To Rescue Valuables After a Water Loss

6/14/2021 (Permalink)

water flooding in home Although most of the restoration process should be handled by professionals, following these tips can help save your belongings

If your home in Clovis, CA, is flooded, you may feel overwhelmed by the damage. Before you throw everything out, though, try to salvage as much as you can. Many items can be restored after being subjected to water in the home. Here are five ways to save your valuables.

1. Air Dry

Before restoration experts can save most items, the items will have to dry out a little. Remove them from the water and set them somewhere to dry out. The best place to do this is inside, out of direct sunlight if possible, because sunlight can fade your items.

2. Increase Air Flow

Items that are damp are vulnerable to mold growth. Mold can start to grow as soon as 24 hours after moisture becomes a problem. To combat growth, increase the air-flow around the items with fans, dehumidifiers and open windows.

3. Refrigerate

Water in the home can affect books and important documents. These will likely need to be restored by professionals who specialize in document recovery. Freezing or refrigerating these belongings can slow the water damage until it can be fixed.

4. Rinse

Metal or nonporous items can be rinsed with a garden hose. This gets off most of the dirt and silt so that the object can start to dry. If the finish on your furniture looks damaged, just make sure the piece is dry. A finish can likely be repaired.

5. Dry Clean

Dry cleaning can save most clothing and textiles that are affected by flooding from a broken pipe. The process sanitizes the items without adding more water to them.

Although most of the restoration process should be handled by professionals, following these tips when you have water in the home can help save your valuables. The sooner you remove them from the water and start to dry them, the better chance you have of getting to keep them. For more information, give us a call at 559-297-3429.

Ways To Prevent Water Damage in the Home

6/14/2021 (Permalink)

Give Yourself Peace of Mind by Following These Simple Tips

Check on Appliances Regularly

Household appliances offer convenience and make a lot of tasks easier. Unfortunately, appliances are also among the biggest causes of water in home. At least once a year, you should have a professional tune up your appliances. Some of the biggest culprits for water issues include:

  • Refrigerators
  • Water heaters
  • Dishwashers
  • Washers
  • Ice makers

Repair or Replace the Rain Gutters
A reliable set of rain gutters do an effective job of taking rainwater and melted snow away from your home. However, if your gutters become clogged with dirt and debris, they can have the opposite effect. When the gutters don't divert the water properly, it can rot roof shingles and lead to leaking. Also, if the downspouts aren't sending water away from your house, it will pool by the foundation, increasing the risk of flooding. Look at the gutters and downspouts regularly. Clean them out or buy new ones when necessary.

Inspect the Plumbing
Flooding can be caused by a broken pipe, so have a plumber look at your system each year. If you spot cracks or leaks, repair or replace the pipes immediately.

Insulate the Pipes
Another way to avoid pipe cleanup is to keep them from bursting. You can do this by insulating them in the wintertime when temperatures fall. This will prevent the water from freezing, breaking the pipes.
It's never fun dealing with water in the home, but there are ways to keep this ordeal from happening to you. While professional water mitigation companies can help restore your home, you're better off staying away from flooding problems altogether.

Know Your Alarm Type

How often you check your alarm depends a lot on the type you have. For an old-fashioned Alarm which are powered by a 9-volt battery, be sure to replace the batteries every year. A lithium battery-powered alarm won’t need its batteries touched for a decade, while an alarm that’s hard-wired to your home’s electrical system will likely have a backup battery. As with a standard 9-volt alarm, that battery should be replaced annually.

Heed the Beep

Beeping is one of the top signs that you may need to replace the battery. Press the test button on the alarm to see if it’s still working properly and if not, replace batteries promptly.

Replace Alarms When Needed

Like most things, these devices have an expiration date. Experts recommend replacing all smoke detectors, regardless of the type, every decade for maximum effectiveness.

Make a Fire Escape Plan for Your Office or Business

6/7/2021 (Permalink)

It is crucial that every workplace establishes a fire escape plan. This plan should be posted throughout a building and shared with all occupants.

Evacuation Routes

Use an accurate floorplan to determine evacuation routes from every room in the structure. It is a good idea to do the following:

Identify primary and secondary routes
Ensure that routes are reasonable for occupants
Obtain equipment such as an escape ladder
Secondary routes may be less than ideal, but they should still be practical. Keep the age and physical condition of occupants in mind. Post the emergency escape plan at strategic locations.

Maintain Fire Detection and Suppression Equipment

Many commercial properties are equipped with advanced detection and suppression systems. The fire escape plan should include regular tests to ensure the functionality of detectors and sprinklers. Hardwired alarm systems should have battery backups, and it is important to replace batteries that function as a main or backup power source. Make sure that fire extinguishers are of the appropriate class and filled with suppressant.

Keep Track of Occupants

Every business should maintain a current contact list. This list should include these details:

  • Names
  • Contact information
  • Departments

Keep this list in a location where it can be accessed remotely or physically removed in the event of a fire. Every business should have a safe location where employees can gather outside. This place should be far enough away from the structure without being downwind.

A fire in a commercial building can be devastating for many reasons, be sure to keep safety training up to date to prevent further tragedy in the case of a fire.

  2. First aid kit
  3. Any medicine currently being taken

  5. Extra change of clothes and shoes

Smoke Damage and How it Affects Your Commercial Building

6/4/2021 (Permalink)

Office with fire damage Let SERVPRO help you when it comes to commercial fire loss

If you have had a fire in your building then you will likely be dealing with some serious damage. While you are probably most concerned with the effects that the flames have had on your property, you should not discount the severity of smoke damage. This can often be overlooked, but smoke and soot are capable of causing secondary damage in a variety of ways. The following are some things that may be affected.

1. Surfaces
Because smoke travels further than flames, it can cause soot damage throughout the building, even if the fire was contained in one area. Soot carried by smoke contains acidic elements that can damage surfaces. It can cause rusting and deterioration of certain building materials and can also cause discoloration to walls, floors, and other items.

2. Electronics
Even if your computers and other electronic devices are not touched by the fire, they might be in danger of smoke damage. Smoke can easily fill small spaces in these objects, and you may not be able to tell immediately whether or not they were affected. Because of this, you should wait to use your electronics until they have been inspected by a professional. Turning them on can cause any smoke inside to spread and carry soot throughout their various components, leading to permanent damage.

3. The Air
Something else that you might not consider is how smoke and soot affect the air in your building. These particles can remain suspended in the air for an extended period of time, creating an unpleasant environment for you, your employees and anyone else who must spend time in the building. It can also cause lingering odors. Using a filtration system for additional smoke cleaning can reduce this.

After a fire, it is best to have a fire damage remediation company like SERVPRO of Clovis come in and perform smoke damage cleanup.

What Water Category is Present and What That Means For Treatment

Understand What Type of Water Has Impacted You or Your Business

Contaminated water is a problem for yourself and your adjuster. Not only do these situations pose a physical dilemma, but the potential of increase in microorganisms may deem the location a hazard. Was the flooding clean or dirty? That is an important factor when dealing with a water loss Without proper assessment, it's hard to know. A restoration without proper diagnosis could lead to the incorrect treatment and cause further conditions for growth and destruction. Thus, to ensure the safety of anyone dwelling in the property, as well as proper cleaning, proprietors and their agents should rely on a reputable water restoration company to diagnose and guide the remediation efforts.

The following are the Categories of Water and how they are classified

  • Category 1 - This involves a clean supply line leak or bust. While mold spores are not a concern, if not attended to promptly, this could lead to saturated belongings, structural concerns, and possibly create the right environment for mold growth. The premises needs to be dried out as quickly as possible.
  • Category 2 - When the lines to a dishwasher, washing machine or refrigerator break, contaminated water does enter the area. Bacteria is still possibly present, making this a situation that should be handled with care. In addition, a toilet overflow, not from a sewage break, may also fall into this section, especially if feces or urine was present. A thorough inspection would dictate what should be sanitized and dried.
  • Category 3 - Of up most concern is flooding from outside sources and breaks in the building's sewage lines. These origins bring black water, liquid that is highly contaminated with microbes, into your establishment, filling porous materials with mold spores and bacteria. The longer this sits, the more difficult it becomes to clean. In fact, common household cleaners such as bleach may remove external staining; however, they do no absorb deep, possibly leaving behind infestation.

Let a professional vendor such as SERVPRO of Clovis diagnose your water loss and create a plan of the best treatment options for you. Our team of technicians are professionally trained to determine exactly what treatments would be best for each individual circumstance. Put your trust in SERVPRO of Clovis! Call us at (559)297-3429

Are You Checking for Mold?

6/3/2021 (Permalink)

Mold growth from previous water damage Regularly inspect your home for mold so that you can find any before it becomes an issue!

Places That Get Overlooked When Regularly Checking For Mold

Most homeowners know the obvious places to look for mold in their homes basements, bathrooms, and kitchens are big targets but there are a few places that go regularly unchecked.

  1. House Plants - Overwatering house plants can easily lead to a moist environment with enough standing water to promote mold growth.
  2. Washing Machines - Naturally the washing machine feels like a clean environment due to the constant detergents going into the machine, but if your washing machine is not properly drying in between uses this may cause a good environment for mold growth.
  3. Drywall - There may be darkened patches on the walls or ceiling of a room , regularly check the walls around the house especially the ones hidden behind furniture for dark patches which are an indicator that there is mold present.
  4. Carpets - Mold typically grows underneath your carpets. Any liquid-related spills or accidents can cause moisture to become trapped in the carpeting, permeating the areas underneath and inviting mold growth. Before you tear up the carpet to check, you might try smelling it or feeling it to see if it appears damp or musty.
  5. Window Sills - When the humidity levels in your home are too high, it can cause excessive condensation to form on your window sills. This moisture is what causes the mold on wood. It's important to regularly check window sills, as mold that originates here can quickly spread to other areas of your house.

No matter the level of mold present trust in SERVPRO of Clovis to help with mold removal and remediation. Give us a call at (559) 297-3429

Toss it or Keep it? After a Fire What Can You Keep and What Should be Tossed

6/3/2021 (Permalink)

Messy closet of clothes SERVPRO is here to help with the aftermath of any fire.

A fire can be extremely devastating when it rages through a person’s home. In the aftermath, you need to go through the cleanup process and decide what to keep and what to throw away. There are some things you can salvage, while others are unsalvageable or possibly pose health hazards to keep.

Clothing/Other Soft Goods

"Soft Goods" Refers to items in a home that are made of textiles such as clothing, bedding, drapery, couches, etc. In very minimal cases where the exposure to smoke and soot were little to none the textiles can be treated by specialized companies, even then they do not guarantee that they will be able to remove smoke and soot smells from soft goods. Usually it is best to discard of of any affected items that don't seem like they have a good chance to be properly cleaned.

Medicine/Cosmetics

High heat will wreak havoc with your medicine or cosmetics. You don’t want to risk ingesting anything that you know was either in or close to the fire. You definitely should throw away the items if they are charred or have other obvious defects or damage.

Food

You don’t automatically have to throw out all of your food following a fire. However, fire damage can render some things unhealthy. Inspect your food supply carefully following a fire to determine what can say or go. You should toss the following:

• Opened containers or perishable foods.
• Food you stored in thin plastic bags or cardboard.
• Non-perishable food that was close to the heat.

Fire Cleanup: What to Expect

6/3/2021 (Permalink)

Fire damaged kitchen Don't get overwhelmed by the thought of clean up after a fire loss, remember we are here to help and restore everything to the best of our abilities!

If you’ve experienced fire or smoke damage, then you may be wondering where to start with the cleanup process. Here are a few things you can expect to see in your home after a fire and during restoration.

Steps Cleanup May Include

Calling your local fire damage professional can be a great first step in the cleanup process. Some things they can take care of include:

  • An inspection and assessment of damage type and necessary repairs
  • Boarding and tarping the home against further damage
  • The removal of flood water and drying if necessary
  • Any necessary smoke cleaning and removal of soot damage
  • The cleaning of salvageable materials
  • The replacement and restoration of unsalvageable materials
  • Any necessary sanitation

What Types of Damage Fire Can Cause

Aside from obviously burned materials, a fire can leave unpleasant smoke and soot which can be difficult to deal with. Fires may also weaken structural integrity, or cause pipes to burst which would then cause flooding. With flooding comes additional concerns such as mold, or the sanitation issues that can arise with a broken sewer pipe.

Your home may have experienced a lot of soot damage and required extensive smoke cleaning, but at the end of the process everything should be repaired to pre-fire conditions. This means you can safely live there again with no reminders that the fire ever occurred.

A professional team, like the one here at SERVPRO of Clovis, can clean your home of smoke damage and help restore it back to pre-fire conditions. It may take a little time depending on the extent of damage but trust us to help you every step of the way.

Disaster Preparedness : Disinfecting Drinking Water

6/2/2021 (Permalink)

Woman Drinking water Make sure any water that can possibly be consumed is disinfected as best as possible.

USE ONLY WATER THAT HAS BEEN PROPERLY DISINFECTED FOR DRINKING, COOKING, MAKING ANY PREPARED DRINK, OR FOR BRUSHING TEETH

1. Use bottled water that has not been exposed to any potentially contaminated waters if it is available.

2. If you don’t have bottled water, you should boil water to make it safe. Boiling water will kill most types of disease-causing organisms that may be present. If the water is cloudy, filter it through clean cloths or allow it to settle, and draw off the clear water for boiling. Boil the water for one minute, let it cool, and store it in clean containers with covers.

3. If you can’t boil water, you can disinfect it using household bleach. Bleach will kill some, but not all, types of disease-causing organisms that may be in the water. If the water is cloudy, filter it through clean cloths or allow it to settle, and draw off the clear water for disinfection. Add 1/8 teaspoon (or 8 drops) of regular, unscented, liquid household bleach for each gallon of water, stir it well and let it stand for 30 minutes before you use it. Store disinfected water in clean containers with covers.

4. If you have a well that has been flooded, the water should be tested and disinfected after flood waters recede. If you suspect that your well may be contaminated, contact your local or state health department or agriculture extension agent for specific advice.

Prevent Mold in Your Business and Know How to Detect it

6/2/2021 (Permalink)

Mold growth inside of a building's ceiling Don't let mold become an issue for you business, if you suspect the presence of mold call SERVPRO!

40% of small businesses never reopen after a disaster. Much of this is due to the lack of preparedness for the building a business occupies.

Inside mold growth occurs where there is moisture. It can occur in ceilings, floors, insulation, wood, drywall, clothes, carpet and more. Some causes of excessive moisture are condensation, humidity, cooking, washing, or water from a flood, leak or spill. Mold also grows in environments with a warm temperature. Growth can begin in less than 48 hours of excessive moisture. Mold works as a decomposer, consuming the dead materials on which it grows, and it can appear to be black, blue or green in color.

The best way to prevent mold is to control moisture.

  • Fix water leaks. Any known water leaks should be fixed quickly. Have a contractor inspect for unknown leaks.
  • Limit condensation. Keep room temperatures warm and/or well insulated.
  • Reduce humidity. Open windows, install exhaust fans or use a dehumidifier.
  • Clean wet/damp areas. Any wet or damp area, materials or affected equipment should be cleaned within 48 hours to prevent mold growth.

Identifying Mold

  • Odor - Mold has a very distinct musty, and damp smell. Some would compare it to the smell of opening an old book. This is one of the most recognizable signs of mold
  • Past Flooding/Water Damage - Where there is water damage, mold has a high potential of growth

If you suspect mold in your business and need professional remediation, don’t wait, contact us today! Our staff is professionally trained to remediate mold.

Overlooked Causes of Water Damage

6/2/2021 (Permalink)

water heater A water heater leak can go unnoticed, make sure that yours is properly maintained

Water damage is a serious problem that many people don’t realize can cause other damages like mold as well as get progressively worse if it goes unseen and untreated.

There are many causes of water damage such as plumbing system failures which lead to 48%, more water loss than system material failures which is the second leading cause. A cracked pipe, all it takes is a quarter inch crack to lose 250 gallons of water.  Now imagine a pencil eraser sized crack at a constant rate you can lose up to 500 gallons of water just from a small crack. Washing machine supply lines that fail can lead to water damage, a lot of people forget to check the supply line since they aren’t visible. But wear and tear can cause a water leak. The next cause is also forgotten due to it normally not being visible and that is the water heater. Over the years the tank corrodes and if not maintained it is not uncommon to have a slow leak or burst.

These are just a few things that might be helpful in keeping your home or business from having a water loss.

Broken Pipe? Remember These Pointers

6/2/2021 (Permalink)

Leaking Pipe Take action! Don't let a broken pipe situation get any worse than it has to.

A broken pipe can cause a plethora of damage in a very short timeframe so action must be taken immediately as to minimize the loss.

Take the following steps:

  • Find your water main and shut it off immediately.
  • Shut off the electricity if the water is seeping into any of your wiring.
  • Safety first. If you have ceilings ready to drop, stay clear of the area.
  • Open a faucet to help relieve the remaining pressure.
  • Put a bucket under the leak if possible.
  • Start your clean up. Get out the mops and buckets, the wet vac or anything you have and start getting rid of any water you can. The quicker the better to help reduce the spread of the damage and prevent mold.
  • Set up any fans to blow warm air into the impacted rooms.
  • Open doors to closets and pantries to let air in and give it a chance to dry.
  • Clean up any obvious damage as soon as you can.
  • Review your insurance policy and call your agent.

Types of Flooring SERVPRO of Clovis Encounters During Water Damages

6/1/2021 (Permalink)

Water damaged carpet Don't let your flooring mitigation wait! Give us a call at SERVPRO of Clovis to determine the status of your flooring.

SERVPRO of Clovis encounters many types of flooring when servicing water damage losses. There are many variables that determine if the flooring can be saved and this varies from one type of flooring to the next.

The first factor in determining if SERVPRO can save your floor is if the water source is clean water or contaminated, and in what way it may be contaminated. Any water that is contaminated such as water from a drain back up, flooding or water damage that has sat for over three days is considered black water. In all black water scenarios the flooring is unsalvageable and would be removed and disposed of.

If the water is clean and the incident has happened in the last several days, these are the determining factors in saving your floor:

  • Carpet – SERVPRO would extract the water and remove all of the wet pad. Dehumidifiers and air movers would be placed and monitored until the drying is complete. The pad would then be replaced, and the carpet would be re-installed and cleaned.
  • Laminate Flooring – When water gets under laminate flooring, it will need removed and replaced with new flooring.
  • Wood Floors – SERPVRO uses floor drying mats that can be successful in drying wood floors. The amount of water and the type of wood flooring is an important factor on saving a wood floor.
  • Ceramic Tile – The determining factor for saving ceramic tile floors is what is under the floor. If the tile floor is laid over vinyl the floor cannot be saved.

Call SERVPRO of Clovis at (559)297-3429 and we can assist you with your water loss and determine if your flooring can be saved.

Save Your Clovis Home From Extensive Damage With Prompt Water Removal

6/1/2021 (Permalink)

water pouring out on living room floor Let SERVPRO help with any water related issues before they cause any further damage.

A Swift Response can Prevent Further Damage and Costs

Flooding is not the only time you can end up with water in your home. No matter why water is present, it must be cleaned up before it can cause damage to your home's interior. No homes are made to withstand the presence of water and can suffer costly damage that affects not only the appearance of your home but also the health and safety of the people who live there.

SERVPRO of Clovis is ready and properly equipped to handle any level of moisture as well as any level of contamination of the water itself. When the water involved is contaminated, our water removal experts also implement measures that prevent the spread of bacteria and any other possible contaminants, such as using a bactericide, which is often sufficient.

Water, as a fluid, easily permeates many areas and items in a home that you may not think to check or easily has access to dry yourself. For example water may travel under cabinetry, into crawl spaces, or absorb into drywall or insulation. These areas and materials can retain a significant amount of water and must be included in water removal efforts.

Any left-over moisture can spell bigger problems in the future. Even slightly raised humidity levels can put a home at risk of water damage such as disintegrating walls and mold growth. We apply concrobium to surfaces that are at highest risk for developing mold, as it has been shown to prevent mold from growing while still being safe to use around children and pets.

Whatever your water problems may be, SERVPRO of Clovis is here to help. Give us a call at (559) 297-3429 and we can get the water removal process started as soon as possible to get your home dry and comfortable once again.

When water damage resulting from sewage issues or some other problem affects your property, you need to take effective action immediately. And while you may be inclined to start the water removal process on your own, it is important always to have this work completed by a team of professionals from SERVPRO of Clovis.

Here are several reasons why:

Water Damage Is Progressive

Water damage can worsen with each passing moment. The longer you postpone calling water damage restoration experts to fix the problems, the greater the damages will be. Exposure to fungi may cause health effects as well as increase restoration costs.

Sewage Water is Dangerous

If the excessive water on your property contains sewage, it is very dangerous. In fact, sewage water contains pathogens, pesticides, and waste matter. Black water causes health implications if you come in contact with this type of water. Contact professionals who can remove the sewage water quickly and safely. Don't attempt to do it yourself. Training, specialized equipment, and hazmat clothing are required for a return of safety to your property.

Electrical Hazards

Water, being a conductor of electricity, can send shocks powerful enough to cause electrocution under some circumstances. Instead, allow the experienced professionals from SERVPRO Clovis to complete the process for you. Simple Step to Prevent Commercial Electrical Fires

6/3/2020 (Permalink)

As industry experts know, commercial electrical fires can be very dangerous and costly. When a commercial fire occurs, it can lead to the injury or death of the employees or customers present. Additionally, electrical fires can result in major property loss. SERVPRO of Clovis, a premier fire damage restoration company, will respond immediately to get you back in business. Luckily, most of these fires are preventable and can also be contained through maintenance of fixtures, employee training, and the facilitation of greater awareness regarding work hazards. Learn more about how to identify electrical hazards and reduce the incidence of a commercial fire by reading the following information:

Recognizing the Warning Signs

Electrical distribution systems contain several complex elements. These elements are capable of exposing commercial buildings to fire risks. Some of the areas of concern are:

  • Corroded Wiring: Wiring that is old or defective can cause electrical fires. Although all wiring can start to break down at some point, the wiring exposed to corrosive substances or the outdoor environment is subject to faster degradation. Industrial facilities, multi-tenant warehouses, and farms should be attentive to their wiring given that it can be subject to extreme exposure to the elements.
  • Circuits and Fuses: Tripped circuits and blown fuses are signs of overloaded outlets or circuits. These circuits and outlets can generate overheating and result in combustion leading to commercial electrical fires.
  • Hot Spots: Overloaded circuits, corroded wires or connectors, loose connections, faulty fuses, imbalanced electrical loading, short circuits, switches, and breakers can generate "hot spots". This is the result of the excessive heat that builds up within the electrical panels. If there is any sense that these "hot spots" could cause a commercial flare up, here is an option. Infrared thermal imaging can be operated to locate these hot spots, repairs can then be done preventing electrical shortages or breakdowns that lead to fires. Small business owners can hire licensed electricians to complete the inspection.

Electrical Distribution Equipment

Periodically, electrical distribution equipment needs to be physically inspected. The equipment should also periodically undergo thermal imaging. This work should be completed by a licensed professional. Some of the equipment requiring inspection includes:

  • electrical panels, switchboards, and switchgear
  • fuses
  • circuit breakers
  • relays and contactors
  • disconnect switches
  • motors
  • motor controls
  • transformers

The Fire Marshall periodically visits commercial buildings checking the fire extinguishers' expiration dates. The overhead sprinkler system, fire exit lighted signs and safe egress from the commercial building are all inspected. Prevention is the key.

Conclusion

Fire damage can be especially devastating for a business or commercial property. Significant water damage can be an unintended result of extinguishing a commercial fire. The fire suppression system of a commercial building(overhead fire sprinkler system) can also cause a large amount of water damage. Commercial business owners know that electrical fires negatively affect their property, the operation of the business, and the loss of revenue. However, the information above can help you take strides towards preventing these fires from happening. In the event that you find your commercial space affected by a fire, electrical or otherwise, you should know who to call to help facilitate the remediation process. As a company with extensive experience in restoring property affected by electrical fires, the professionals of SERVPRO of Clovis can provide you with the detailed assistance necessary to get your business space in working order. Thunderstorm Time

6/3/2020 (Permalink)

A thunderstorm is considered severe if it produces hail at least 1 inch in diameter or has wind gusts of at least 58 miles per hour. Every thunderstorm produces lightning, which kills more people each year than tornadoes or hurricanes. Heavy rain from thunderstorms can cause flash flooding, and high winds can damage homes and blow down trees and utility poles, causing widespread power outages.

                                                            Know the Difference

Severe Thunderstorm Watch - Severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. Stay informed and be ready to act if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Severe weather has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar. Warnings indicate imminent danger to life and property.

Every year people are killed or seriously injured by severe thunderstorms despite advance warning. While some did not hear the warning, others heard the warning and did not pay attention to it. The information in this section, combined with timely watches and warnings about severe weather, may help save lives.

Why SERVPRO Should Be the Only Company You Call for Water Damage

6/3/2020 (Permalink)

Water is a devastating force that can affect your Fresno residence or office. Moisture quickly infiltrates and begins to disintegrate porous building materials including drywall, ceiling tiles, and some types of flooring. It can migrate from the original damaged space into other rooms, levels, and hidden cavities between walls, under floors, and above ceilings. In just 24 to 48 hours secondary damage such as mold growth begins. Homeowners need to reach out to professional restoration experts right away.

When an overflowing tub or sink becomes a waterfall, your Fresno home requires a comprehensive water damage recovery plan. Unfortunately, it is rarely enough to mop up the water you see, as moisture is notorious for moving into any absorbent material or flowing into neighboring spaces. Intensive training in moisture metering and infrared scanning is useful to trace the path of water. The typical homeowner lacks that skill, which is why working with a trustworthy water restoration company is so important.

SERVPRO can arrive as soon as practical after your call, ready to assess the extent of the damage and to devise a plan to remove the water and dry all affected spaces. Our service vehicles carry an equipment stock that anticipates a range of water removal and drying tasks. The submersible pumps, extractors, air movers, heaters, and dehumidifiers are set to manage the challenges, clearly supporting why SERVPRO delivers fast and effective services when water damages your home.

Our technicians cover a broad range of water damage scenarios during the time they spend on IICRC training. This background helps speed the process of restoration. Why SERVPRO is an industry leader is our expectation that every project we accept stands on its own. We carefully evaluate the specific circumstances of your water damage crisis so that we miss nothing, including unexpected seepage or harm to vulnerable building materials or contents others might not consider. When we respond our mission is to leave your property “Like it never even happened.” Working with you and your insurance company to achieve this end is always our goal.

Why SERVPRO of Clovis should rank first in your search for reputable water damage restorers is clear -- we have the trained technicians and appropriate equipment to get the job done. Contact us at (559)297-3429 when water flows outside of its lane for a fast and efficient response.

Commercial Business

6/2/2020 (Permalink)

Fire engulfs an automotive supply shop, destroying inventory consisting of mainly shocks, struts, starters, alternators, and batteries. The fire ignited due to a chemical container failure affecting surrounding items.

You may think that fire damage like this would put them out of business, but you'd be wrong. Replacing inventory is relatively easy, the hard decision here is locating a quality company to perform the services you need to restore the structure of your building. There are several unique challenges faced during different fire situations, and we have experience dealing with all of them.

SERVPRO technicians overcome various cleaning challenges, daily. A burning building consists of several complex reactions between different elements. We learn that fire damage presents different cleaning and restoration situations that depend greatly on how these different elements interact during the progress of a fire. When dealing with the removal of smoke residues, we consider several factors.

Type - More porous surfaces allow particles and odors to penetrate further and are harder to clean. Non-porous surfaces such as those covered in enamel paint are easier to clean than a flat latex paint would be. While synthetic fibers attract more residue than natural fibers, synthetics are easier to clean.

Age - As time progresses, old paint, fabrics, and carpeting become more porous, and adhesion to surfaces become weaker, making old surfaces harder to clean.

Heat - Generally, hotter fires make surfaces expand, allowing residue and odors to penetrate more efficiently. While heat also chars materials or melts the finish on a surface, making refinishing required to restore the surface properly.

Moisture - The right conditions help residues set faster and permanently stain surfaces. Fire suppression systems and Firefighting efforts, along with damp weather and normal condensation on various surfaces combine with smoke residues, causing surfaces to become discolored.

Material - Different materials produce different kinds of residues. Synthetic materials such as plastics and rubber create a wet, smeary residue that stains surfaces. Wood and other natural materials leave behind a dry residue that is easier to clean.

Air Pressure - As the temperature of fire increases, air expands, creating pressure systems that force smoke and soot into cracks and crevices.

Impingement - During a fire, the surrounding air becomes hotter, causing increased movement. This fast moving air collides with surfaces throughout the structure, causing residues to collide with vertical surfaces, leaving behind more difficult stains.

With knowledge of these different factors that cause changes during a fire event, SERVPRO technicians work hard to deliver the services you need to restore your business to a quality preloss condition.

How Does Ozone Destroy Odors

6/2/2020 (Permalink)

zone reacts with odor molecules by transferring the “extra” oxygen atom of the ozone molecule to the odor molecule, changing its composition so it no longer has the same chemical makeup. This chemical reaction is called oxidation. In a nutshell, through the oxidation process, what was formerly an odor-causing molecule is now an entirely different compound, and therefore does not possess the odor of its preceding form. To compare the difference between odor treatment using deodorizers and ozone, pretend we have two foul smelling odor molecules, think of them as two bad guys. Let’s treat the first bad guy with a spray-on deodorizer. This can be represented by locking him in a jail cell so he can’t affect anybody or anything. He is harmless, but he is still a bad guy. Once he is released, he can be a bad guy again…or in our case a stinky odor molecule.

Now let’s take the second bad guy and treat him with ozone. During the oxidation process, his very molecular structure is altered; he is no longer the same thing. This can be represented by waving a magic wand and “poof-he’s a rabbit”! Since the bad guy has been turned into something completely different/harmless, he can no longer be a bad guy-he is now a permanent rabbit, or in our case, a molecule without an unpleasant odor.

Do you have an odor molecule? Don’t despair, call SERVPRO of Clovis 559-297-3429.

Winter Storms

6/2/2020 (Permalink)

Winter storms can range from a moderate snow over a few hours to a blizzard with blinding, wind-driven snow that lasts for several days. Some winter storms are large enough to affect several states, while others affect only a single community. Many winter storms are accompanied by dangerously low temperatures and sometimes by strong winds, icing, sleet and freezing rain.

Regardless of the severity of a winter storm, you should be prepared in order to remain safe during these events.

Know the Difference
Winter Storm Outlook - Winter storm conditions are possible in the next 2 to 5 days.
Winter Weather Advisory - Winter weather conditions are expected to cause significant inconveniences and may be hazardous. When caution is used, these situations should not be life threatening.

Winter Storm Watch - Winter storm conditions are possible within the next 36 to 48 hours. People in a watch area should review their winter storm plans and stay informed about weather conditions.

Winter Storm Warning - Life-threatening, severe winter conditions have begun or will begin within 24 hours. People in a warning area should take precautions immediately.

Trust SERVPRO of Clovis for your restoration needs.

What you can do to help

6/2/2020 (Permalink)

  • Increase grade:  The earth around the home should be sloped away from the house to divert water away. Very simply, borrow earth from three feet away from the structure, and toss it against the side of the house thus creating the slope.
  • Clean rain gutters:  Schedule a licensed professional to clean gutters annually. A clogged rain gutter can send water cascading down the exterior wall, which can result in water entering the interior walls.
  • Divert down spouts: In a quick run to the local hardware store, homeowners can find a black, plastic corrugated 6-inch hose that fits around the base of the downspout. This device carries water away from the house, preventing it from seeping down into the foundation.
  • Roof maintenance: Where rain is concerned, the roof is the first line of defense. One small tear in a rubber membrane or crack in a tin roof, or compromise in the plywood structure of the roof can prove disastrous for the entire interior of the home. But regular maintenance can preserve the life of the roof. Have a roofer check out your home every five years.
  • Window repairs:  Proper window installation and maintenance is imperative. Modern windows are fitted with wells and drains designed to help direct water outside the house. Improper caulking can prove disastrous by sending water into the house that should be draining away from the window.
  • Sweep away debris:  Especially during spring and fall seasons, when the area’s great trees emit pollen in tumble weed fashion and drop their leaves in mass, it is critical to diligently sweep outdoor surfaces weekly, especially patios and door wells to prevent the collection of debris clogging exterior drains.

Smoke and Soot Cleanup

6/1/2020 (Permalink)

Smoke and soot is very invasive and can penetrate various cavities within your home, causing hidden damage and odor. Our smoke damage expertise and experience allows us to inspect and accurately assess the extent of the damage to develop a comprehensive plan of action.

Smoke and soot facts:

  • Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.
  • Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.
  • The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.

Different Types of Smoke

There are two different types of smoke–wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Clovis will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting. Here is some additional information:

Wet Smoke – Plastic and Rubber

  • Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood

  • Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.

Protein Fire Residue – Produced by evaporation of material rather than from a fire

  • Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.
  • Our Fire Damage Restoration Services

Since each smoke and fire damage situation is a little different, each one requires a unique solution tailored for the specific conditions.  We have the equipment, expertise, and experience to restore your fire and smoke damage.  We will also treat your family with empathy and respect and your property with care.

Call The Professionals

6/1/2020 (Permalink)

After a fire, your house is left with lingering smoke that can be harmful to your health and property. The best thing to do in such a situation is to clean the smoke immediately because if you ignore it, the smoke will cause massive damage on your property which will require more money to clean than if you had cleaned it sooner. If the smoke is not cleaned as soon as possible, the items that will be mostly affected by smoke includes drapes, carpets, upholstery and walls because they will become permanently discolored. Glass will become extremely etched, and metals will tarnish which will result in having to replace these items.

You might think that you can do a good job at cleaning smoke by yourself without any basic knowledge and skills on how to go about it, but this can lead to you causing further damage on the items. The best thing to do will be to hire experienced professionals from a reputable company to do the cleaning and restore the home to the state it was in before the fire disaster struck. That is where SERVPRO of Clovis comes into play.

One of the advantages of using experts to clean soot is that they have specialized tools which are crucial in eliminating smoke. These are tools such as extractors, rotary scrubbers, and wet cleaning tools. Another advantage is that we have a lot of experience in doing such work; therefore, we will know the right steps to take in cleaning your home and preventing further damage on the property.

When we come to your home, the first thing we will do is to assess the extent of the damage and determine where the odors are coming from. We will then vacuum the whole house to remove any traces of soot. Soot is dangerous because it can cause breathing complications besides damaging property. After we finish vacuuming, we will cover the carpets and furniture to prevent more dirt from settling on them. We will also identify what can and cannot be replaced and advise you accordingly. Once we find the source of the odor we will use specialized detergents to treat it and eliminate the smell completely.

Indeed, bringing in a professional on site will save you a lot of headaches and ensure that you get rid of the smoke efficiently. If you live in Clovis or surrounding cities, call SERVPRO of Clovis for reliable smoke removal services at an affordable cost. For more information call us at (559) 297-3429.

Pros Know Best!

5/6/2020 (Permalink)

When water damage resulting from sewage issues or some other problem affects your property, you need to take effective action immediately. Although the water issue may seem minor, it can cause substantive damage to your house if it is not eliminated quickly and correctly.

Apart from obvious damage to contents and building materials, you may also be victimized by a mold infestation if the water is not removed promptly.

Whether you're dealing with black, gray or clean water, the extraction process brings with it electrical hazards. Don't subject yourself to the risk of electrocution. Instead, allow the experienced professionals from SERVPRO of Clovis to complete the process for you. These individuals possess the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to complete the process in a safe manner that precludes you and them from experiencing illness or injury.

Call SERVPRO of Clovis now at (559) 297- 3429.

Fire extinguishers are required in all commercial buildings in California, and there are specific requirements regarding training of your employees in many areas of fire prevention and safety.

Cal OSHA regulations stipulate that fire extinguishers must be placed in areas that the employees can easily access, such as in a cabinet or mounted to a wall.  They should be placed near exits to reduce the risk that people will be trapped by fire inside a building.  OSHA regulations also mandate that all employees must be trained on the basic principles of using fire extinguishers, as well as the hazards that are typically involved with firefighting.  They should also be trained on the process for reporting a fire, how to evaluate the size of a fire, and how to keep an exit route in good condition in your place of work.

Training must be provided to every new employee, for employees assigned to emergency response teams, and to all other employees on an annual basis.  In order to be safe, make sure your company is following all of these guidelines.

Avoiding Electrical Fires

6/5/2019 (Permalink)

Always unplug unused wires and pugs.

We all know that installing and maintaining a smoke detector is the best way to stay safe in case of a fire in your home, but you may be surprised to learn about the most common causes of electrical fires.  Here they are:

Faulty outlets, appliances - Most electrical fires are caused by faulty electrical outlets and old, outdated appliances. Never use an appliance with a worn or frayed cord which can send heat onto combustible surfaces like floors, curtains, and rugs that can start a fire.

Light fixtures- Light fixtures, lamps and light bulbs are another common reason for electrical fires. Installing a bulb with a wattage that is too high for the lamps and light fixtures is a leading cause of electrical fires. Always check the maximum recommended bulb wattage on any lighting fixture or lamp and never go over the recommended amount. Extension cords - Misuse of extension cords are another electrical fire cause. Appliances should be plugged directly into an outlet and not plugged into an extension cord for any length of time. Only use extension cords as a temporary measure.

Space heaters- Because space heaters are portable, many times people put them too close to combustible surfaces such as curtains, beds, clothing, chairs, couches and rugs. Coil space heaters are especially dangerous because the coils become so hot, they will almost instantaneously ignite any nearby flammable surface.

Wiring- Outdated wiring often causes electrical fires. If a home is over 20 years old, it may not have the wiring capacity to handle the increased amounts of electrical appliances in today’s average home.

Be sure to check today and make sure none of these dangers are in your home. In the unfortunate case of a fire, the professionals at SERVPRO of Clovis are on-call 24 hours a day to help.

Flood Warning Tips

6/4/2019 (Permalink)

Be prepared for when a flood comes your way.

Failing to evacuate flooded areas, entering flood waters, or remaining after a flood has passed can result in injury or death. Flooding is a temporary overflow of water onto land that is normally dry. Floods are the most common natural disaster in the United States. Floods may:

  • Result from rain, snow, coastal storms, storm surges, and overflows of dams and other water systems.
  • Develop slowly or quickly - flash floods can come with no warning.
  • Cause outages, disrupt transportation, damage buildings, and create landslides.
  • IF YOU ARE UNDER A FLOOD WARNING, FIND SAFE SHELTER RIGHT AWAY
  • Do not walk, swim or drive through flood waters. Turn Around, Don't Drown!
  • Just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away.
  • Stay off bridges over fast-moving water.
  • Determine how best to protect yourself based on the type of flooding.
  • Evacuate if told to do so.
  • Move to higher ground or a higher floor.
  • Stay where you are.

Water Saving Tips For This Summer

6/4/2019 (Permalink)

This summer may be really hot, but save the water and your bill.

Every state is experiencing the effects of drought, and saving water is on everyone’s mind these days. We waste a lot of water; our showers are too long, and we are often obsessed with an emerald green lawn. We need to change the way we handle and view water and leave behind the outdated and inefficient water management systems of the past.

Here are some tips that will help you save water this summer. Your water bill will be reduced, and you can save yourself some time into the bargain as well as doing some good for the Earth.

  1. Water your yard in the cool parts of the day. Water evaporates more quickly when it’s hot, so run your irrigation system while it’s most likely to stay with your lawn. Make sure you are not watering your sidewalk or your driveway, too. A drip system works quite well in this respect. Replacing your thirsty lawn with a drought tolerant garden would be a great way to save water, and it won’t have to be mowed every week!
  2. Check for leaky toilets. Put a few drops of food coloring into the tank. If the color shows up in the bowl, your tank is leaking, and could be wasting up to 100 gallons of water a day!
  3. Take shorter showers. Trimming just two minutes off of your showers can save up to 1700 gallons of water a year. One way to do this is to turn off the shower while you shave or soap up. Install water-efficient shower heads, toilets, and faucets for a savings of thousands of gallons per year as well.
  4. Cover the pool. Make sure the water in your pool stays there by covering it when you are not using it. This will prevent water loss by evaporation.
  5. Use a car wash. When you are washing your car by hand can easily use 100 gallons of water, and takes a lot of time and effort, as well. Commercial car washes average 40 gallons or less!
  6. Trap rain water. Collect the water from summer rain storms by getting a water barrel. You can reuse this water for your garden. Green roofs, rain gardens, and other water-saving techniques are called green infrastructure and go a long way towards saving this most precious resource. More and more landowners and city governments are choosing to invest in these and other innovative strategies as ways to save water, reduce pollution, and save millions, and even billions, in costs for new water tanks, tunnels, and other traditional water infrastructures.

Preventing Water Leaks in Commercial Properties

6/4/2019 (Permalink)

Commercial flood disaster

Water may be essential to life, but it can cause a great amount of damage to a commercial building if it ends up where it shouldn’t be and is undetected for a long period of time.  Here are a few of the most common types of leaks in commercial properties and how to fix them.

  • Faucet Leaks – With frequent use, faucet parts can wear out over time and when the seal or other components begin to leak, it can lead to water loss. This can substantially increase your water bill as well as cause major damage to your building.  In order to avoid loss, prepare any dripping sinks as soon as you see them start to leak.
  • Toilet Leaks – Like faucets, toilets have a number of parts that can deteriorate and lead to issues. One faulty or leaking part leads to other damage, so be sure to replace toilet components as soon as you see them begin to deteriorate.
  • Underground Leaks – These types of leaks can often go undetected, but there are tell-tail signs of their existence, such as areas of wet soil, areas where grass or plants are growing faster than surrounding areas (due to increased water supply from your leak), and a significant rise in your water bill.
  • Hidden Leaks – These types of leaks are the most difficult to detect, but can cause the most damage because they remain undetected for long periods of time. If you notice water marks or swelling of walls, ceilings and floors, you likely have a hidden leak.  You can reach us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 559-297-3429

If any of these types of leaks are detected in your commercial building, call the professionals at SERVPRO of Clovis.  We can help find where the water is coming from and help to “Like it never even happened.”

5 Things You Should Not Store in Your Garage

6/3/2019 (Permalink)

This is how your garage should not look.

Most of us try to accomplish new goals, get a new fresh start. Getting healthy, organizing our homes, bettering our lives always seem to be at the top of the list. One space to start cleaning and organizing is the garage! That extra storage area that easily becomes a catchall for excess items.  We have compiled a list of items that should not be stored in your garage. Get them out and reclaim your space.

  1. Paint- Because the garage is prone to extreme temperature changes, paint should not be stored in the garage.  Recycle paint according to your county guidelines or donate it.
  2. Electronics-If you are putting electronics out in the garage, you must not be using them.  Donate these items because they can’t withstand the temperature fluctuations and will easily break.
  3. Propane and Hazardous Chemicals-Proper ventilation is key for storage of propane and hazardous chemicals.  For safety reasons, these items need to be stored outside.
  4. Food- Keeping food in the garage is an open invitation to rodents and insects.  Although shopping in bulk can save money, storing extra food in the garage will cause problems. The moisture and humidity will spoil the food. Find room in the house for food storage.
  5. Cardboard boxes-Insects, mice and other rodents love cardboard. Invest in waterproof plastic bins to store your items.

Hope these tips help you gain back your garage. Happy Cleaning from SERVPRO of Clovis!

MAKE A PLAN

Water

  • Water will keep you alive. If you have enough water, you can live on half of your normal food intake. Make sure to store at least one gallon of water per person per day and store enough water to last two weeks.
  • People in hot environments, children, people who are ill and nursing mothers should store more.
  • Rotate your water supply every six months
  • Other sources of water in your home: water heater, ice cubes, pipes and toilet tank (not the bowl)Unlike water, food can be rationed. Store at least a three to five-day supply of non-perishable food in a dry place where the temperature is not above 70 degrees. PetsBut you should know safe places to keep your pets if you have to evacuate with them. Where are hotels and motels outside of your area that accept pets? What friends or family members could keep them for you? Which boarding facilities, veterinarians or shelters could be used?Your water heater can be a critical source of water in an emergency, but only if it’s still standing. Go to your home improvement store of choice and buy the metal straps to secure the water heater to nearby studs.GasWhen you should shut off your gas meter:
  • If you have natural gas coming into your home, it’s easy to turn off, but not so much for turning it back on. Only qualified people should turn gas back on.
  • A falling water heater can break gas lines and water lines or spill your water.
  • Utilities
  • Pets are an important member of your family. Plan for them as well. Remember that emergency shelters typically do not allow animals. Only service animals are allowed in shelters.
  • Select foods that require little or no preparation, water or refrigeration. Select foods that are high in calories, nutritious, compact and lightweight. Choose foods your family will eat.
  • Food
  • You smell natural gas
  • You hear gas leaking
  • There is a fire (unless shutting off the gas would jeopardize your safety)
  • If you need to shut off the gas, use a wrench to turn the valve a quarter turn in either direction
  • Take some time to become familiar with which utilities enter your home and where they can be shut off. As you practice emergency plans, locate and map the gas, water and electricity mains. During family drills, go through the movements, but do not practice shutting off gas lines.

What to Do After a Fire

6/3/2019 (Permalink)

Be safe when entering a house on fire.
  1. Ask whether it is safe to enter the home. Do not enter if the fire authorities deem it unsafe. They may establish a safety zone, but never assume a room is safe, until it has been cleared to enter.
  2. Know who to call.
  3. Contact family members and let them know you are safe, and unharmed.
  4. Contact your insurance agent. They will be able to talk you through the necessary steps, including proper documentation and emergency lodging and living expenses (keep all of your receipts.) The insurance company may assist in securing a company to help with clean up options.
  5. You may request a restoration company at this time for contents cleaning etc. Contact SERVPRO of Clovis.
  6. Another call may be to your landlord if applicable, and to your local American Red Cross.
  7. Secure the property to prevent possible looting. SERVPRO is available to assist with securing property/ Board Ups.
  8. If water hoses were used to exterminate the fire, drying your home is critical. It is best to call the professionals at SERVPRO to do water/ fire cleanups. Water can lead to mold damage if not dried properly. SERVPRO is an approved restoration contractor for many major insurance carriers and adheres to the highest standards in the restoration industry.
  9. Seek counseling if needed. Children and adults can feel a traumatic sense of loss, and may need help to avoid a lasting sense of sadness and disorientation after a house fire. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. A house fire is a traumatic event and individuals need to be treated with respect and compassion by those close to the process of rebuilding.

  • Make trees and shrubbery more wind resistant by keeping them trimmed and removing damaged branches
  • Protect your animals by ensuring that any outside buildings that house them are protected in the same way as your home

Preventing Water Damage From Rain

5/28/2019 (Permalink)

Flooded Rain Water

Everyone loves the occasional summer thunderstorm - but it could cause major problems if rain water seeps into your home. One of the most common sources of water damage in a home is from rain water. It can enter through leaks in your roof, seeping in from the foundation, or even flooding into your basement. It is important to take the necessary steps to prevent water damage in your home such as:

Checking for proper drainage:

  • Inspect your roof thoroughly for structural damage or holes
  • Clear your gutters from leaves and other debris that could block the flow of water from draining into the yard

Install or Check Sump Pumps:

  • Sump pump is very effective for keeping rainwater out of your house
  • Have a professional check your sump pump to insure it is working properly once a year

Check sealant inside and outside foundation:

  • Make sure the tar sealant covering the inner and outer sides of the foundation are intact

Inspect the slope of your lawn:

  • Grading is the slope of your lawn and it should always slope away from your home to redirect the rainwater from flooding around the foundations

When you are dealing with storm, flood, and water damage, immediate action is crucial. You should choose the company with storm damage experience and expertise that has the resources and equipment to handle the job. SERVPRO of Clovis can respond immediately to storm and flooding conditions.

The Correct Equipment For a Fire Damage

The Right Tools to Handle The Job.

We believe at SERVPRO of Clovis that the right tools for the job is vital to timely mitigation and restoration, but perhaps more important, SERVPRO of Clovis fire damage professionals are thoroughly trained in fire cleanup and restoration. For instance, knowing the different types of smoke and their behavior patterns are vital to proper restoration.

  • Wet Smoke – Plastics and Synthetics; Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary.
  • Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood; Fast burning, high temperatures, dry, powdery, no smeary residues.
  • Protein – Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.
  • Fuel Oil Soot – Furnace Puff Backs.
  • Other Types – Tear gas, fingerprint powder and fire extinguisher residue.

Deodorization Equipment

Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) Foggers will atomize liquid deodorizing agents, producing a fine mist that easily penetrates sites where odor-causing residues accumulate. The device can also be used to apply fungicides and disinfectants.

Thermal Foggers dispense solvent-based products in large volume, dense fogs suitable for confined areas. The fog consists of tiny particles of deodorant solution that pair with and neutralize odor-causing particles.

Category 3 Water Damage

5/2/2019 (Permalink)

Sewage water is contaminated water which is category 3.

There are many water sources that contribute to your water damage, and they are classified as Category 1 (Clean Water), Category 2 (Gray Water), and Category 3 (Black Water). Out of the three categories, category 3 is the most unsanitary type of water damage.

Flood water is one source of unsanitary water in a home or business.  This is something to be aware of as we enter hurricane season.  But the most common source of category 3 water is a sewer back up. Any porous materials that come in contact with the contaminated water should be removed and disposed. This includes carpet, carpet pad, and drywall.

Our water technicians are all IICRC certified and trained and know what to do, and the steps to take, in cleaning up category 3 water.  We know how stressful water damage can be, and they are there to help guide you through any water situation that you encounter.

Remember, the sooner you mitigate your water damage, the less chance you have of major repairs.  Give us a call at 559-297-3429 – we’re here to help!

Small Leaks Can Cause Mold Damage in Your Clovis Home

4/18/2019 (Permalink)

Mold Damage in Your Home

Your Clovis home might deal with its fair share of poor weather conditions and threats according to this. While the presence of flood conditions and that lasting moisture can sometimes bring about worse effects for your home, perhaps one of the biggest threats is something that you might oversee on a consistent basis; a seemingly insignificant leak. Something as important as a small, steady leak on an appliance like a water heater or washing machine might not seem like a big deal, but it could provide enough moisture for fungal growth to occur.

You might not be aware that mold spores exist naturally in the air that we breathe in and mingle throughout our homes all the time. They only become mold colonies and begin to bloom when temperature and moisture conditions allow them to, which is why a seemingly unproblematic leak might provide enough dampness to the area or the air for these spores to activate and seat on nearby surfaces. By the time that you have noticed mold damage to your Clovis home, the problem is significant enough to warrant professional services.

Resolving this issue using professional remediation services is your best decision, as our SERVPRO team gets thoroughly trained in mold remediation and restoration to IICRC standards of certification.
Our team sections off the affected areas by turning off air circulation devices in your home while the remediation process is underway. Equipment like negative air chambers and ozone machines can clean the air of spores and prevent them from spreading to new areas while colonies are getting removed. Dehumidification is a critical part of the process, as well as repairing the leak that caused the moisture in the first place to prevent a similar situation from occurring again.

Our certified technicians at SERVPRO of Clovis can help you with whatever kind of mold damage that you might discover in your home. We can be reached anytime by calling (559) 297-3429.

Does your home have a mold problem?

4/12/2019 (Permalink)

Mold can spread through a home in as little as 48 hours.

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural level.

Consider the following mold facts: Mold exists just about everywhere, walls, floors, ceilings and outdoors.

Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, HVAC or even hitch a ride on your clothing or a pet which will travel inside.

Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and slight inflammation.

Before a mold remediation begins, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed at that moment. Otherwise, the mold may return.

Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas. Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) creates the standards for the restoration industry and provides training and certification to restoration companies. IICRC Certified Firms have the right to display the IICRC Certified Logo.

IICRC Certified Firms must

• Present accurate information to consumers and conduct business with honesty and integrity.

• Require a technician on all jobs who has been formally trained and passed all required tests.

• Require a continuing education program to keep technicians up-to-date on the latest changes in the industry.

• Maintain liability insurance to protect all parties in the event of an accident.

The IICRC Develops The Standards For The Restoration Industry

The IICRC has been the driving force in establishing the main industry standards and reference guides for professional carpet cleaning, water damage restoration and mold remediation. These IICRC standards take years to develop and require the coordination of experts in the field: manufacturers, industry organizations, insurance professionals, training schools, contractors, and public health professionals.

Every five years, the standards are reviewed and updated. The water damage restoration field changes rapidly with advancements in technology and science, and therefore the standards must evolve to keep pace.

Clovis Smoke and Soot Cleanup

10/11/2018 (Permalink)

Smoke and Soot Damage Can Cause a Pervasive Odor in Your Clovis Home.

Our Fire Damage Restoration Services

Since each smoke and fire damage situation is a little different, each one requires a unique solution tailored for the specific conditions.  We have the equipment, expertise, and experience to restore your fire and smoke damage.  We will also treat your family with empathy and respect and your property with care.

Does your Clovis home have a Mold Problem?

8/31/2018 (Permalink)

In Clovis mold can spread through a home in as little as 48 hours!

Mold Damage

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.
